Types of Immune Cells
NKcell
Natural Killer Cells are responsible for innate immunity and attack virus-infected cells and tumor cells.
When they detect abnormal cells, they release perforin to dissolve the cell membrane, inject granzyme to break down the cytoplasm, or inject water and salt into the cell to cause necrosis.
They can attack directly or indirectly by secreting cytokines to activate cytotoxic T cells and B cells.
T cell
T cells are lymphocytes that regulate antigen-specific adaptive immunity.
They kill abnormal cells, help B cells produce antibodies, and regulate immune function.
B cell
B cells are lymphocytes that produce antibodies.
In immune responses, they create antibodies to combat antigens invading from outside the body.
Dendritic cell
Dendritic cells are antigen-presenting cells that play a key role in defending against viral invasion.
They are major antigen-presenting cells distributed under the skin and help T cell differentiation in the thymus.
Macrophage
Macrophages are distributed throughout all tissues in the body and are responsible for immunity.
They capture and digest invading bacteria and transmit immune information to lymphocytes.
